Floral installations at events: the golden rules

"Bringing a bit of living nature to the table", is the definition that justifies the presence of a flower arrangement or floral installation on a table at an event.

Flowers accompany us all in the important moments of our lives. When a new baby is born, when we celebrate our loved ones or…just finding our significant other, at celebrations, even in business events, and when we want to show that we are there for the ones we care for.

That is why in Flower Fairy we do care for flowers, and we shine a light on every detail of a floral installation or flower arrangement, even if it’s for an intimate small gathering or if it is a public event in a big venue

Floral centerpiece: the golden rules

Although later in this article we will look at some considerations to keep in mind when decorating floral arrangements or floral installations for events, here are several basic rules that every floral centerpiece must comply with or follow at least.

Some people believe that the flowers that we choose to compose the flower arrangement for the centerpiece must not have a scent, so they should not detract from the food, the real protagonist of the event. It's something to take into account because we don’t want to miss at all enjoying a delightful and tasteful meal.

Another golden rule that the composition must comply with is its height. If the floral centerpiece decorates a dining table, it should not exceed 20 cm in height. Of course, the table is a nice meeting place, a space for chatting and if the centerpiece is too high, it will not allow conversations and people looking into their eyes.

The lighting of the table is also essential! We have to bring warmth into the encounter of our very beloved guests, so candles or artificial light must be well placed around the centerpiece to give that romantic touch.

A basic rule that is often forgotten is to take into account the container. It should not clash with the crockery, table linen, and cutlery to be used. It all depends on the flower concept of the night, and we are most happy to help in this matter.

Finally, in these basic considerations in the floral arrangements for events, we cannot forget the type of flower. It is always preferable to use seasonal flowers. We remember that a floral centerpiece is a small sample of nature on our table. And nature marks its production according to the season of the year in which we live.

Floral installations, flower arrangements, and flower concepts according to the event

We like to say the design of the flower arrangements that make up the floral decoration of an event depends on a multitude of factors. Although we have bold customers who decide to make their own rules and concepts, we can establish this classification for the more traditional audience.

Flowers for institutional and corporate events

You can choose very subtle, elegant centers that should reflect the corporate colors or even go for a monochromatic look. This should work for a breakfast or lunch event, but we can have exceptions in gala dinners. These corporate events that take place at night, usually choose more lively floral installations, centerpieces, and other flower arrangements that will accompany an all-evening schedule. We still can choose elegant pieces, but we can play with the color palette and bring on the color to add a little more fun.
It`s important to consider every spot of the venue so we can plan the whole concept and fill every place with these arrangements.

Floral arrangements for private events

Baptisms: Sweet tones can be used to set the mood for a newborn baby, such as white, pink, light yellow or peach. You can add a beautiful display of whites and textured elements, for example, ribbons, balloons, sweets, pacifiers, teddy bears, storks and many more animals. Flower centerpieces and a backdrop of flowers with the new baby`s name can be a great option.

Communions: It is essential that the arrangement is in white and yellow tones. Textured elements such as bread, wheat, grapes, and crosses can be suitable for this special occasion. Flower centerpieces with these color palettes can be a beautiful choice to celebrate this sacrament.

Weddings: Our favorites, by far. Flower arrangements could mark a very romantic line, with abundant and delicate flower arrangements or floral installations of stronger tones in midday weddings, such as orange, ocher, reddish. In evening weddings, you can use candelabras and pastel shades, different shades of purple, white or mint-green.
You can choose from a wide range of installations such as hanging flowers, the backdrop of flowers, arches of every shape, altar flower arrangements, and more.

Lunch and private dinners. For lunches, compositions in different volumes with very loose flowers can give the sensation of craftsmanship and a boho-chic look.  When it comes to dinners, you can use candlelight or at least a very subtle lighting to accompany these flowers.

We help you to choose a flower concept according to the place where the event takes place

Indoor Events
Indoor arrangements have to adapt the decoration to the building or room where it will take place. A classic space will require a classic arrangement, a more modern one will allow a bolder design. We love challenges and we`d love to help you come up with the right ideas for an indoor venue.

Outdoor Events
Adaptation to our environment, although in this case we can "break" with the established and take more risks in the decoration. A suggestive idea is to "complement nature with something that it lacks". If, for example, the event takes place in a countryside area, we can use textures in the floral arrangements that remind us of the sea, such as beach sand, seashells...the options are limitless.

These are some of the factors in choosing the right floral installation or flower arrangements. Contact us for our advice and to learn more about the beautiful world of flowers.
